Darkest Dungeon, the malevolent dungeon crawler roguelike that has enraptured certain members of the Indie Haven crew has had it’s release date announced for January 16th 2016.

Since its initial Steam Early Access release earlier this year Darkest Dungeon has received regular content and balance updates that have kept players coming back for more.

In a statement released on Darkest Dungeon website the team behind the game explained a little about how the games release date has needed to change a few times over the last few months.

As many of you know, game development has a great many dependencies and variables. Between PAX’s, Coves, & corpses, it became clear that an October date would mean rushing our endgame content out the door – a move that would ultimately not be in anyone’s best interest.

Between now and January the game will still be updated with new content such as the new character class ‘The Abomination” as well as two new monsters, all of which were designed with the help of Kickstarter backers who pledged a certain amount.

We at Indie Haven welcome the chance for this game to enslave our time more than it already has if only to get Erin Hyles to write more stuff like this.
