We here at Indie Haven love to support the people making games that push representation in the medium in the right direction. And our first Indie of the Week pick for the new year, Mattie Brice, certainly has done that in her time making games.

Mattie’s an awesome indie developer, a games and culture critic and all-round lovely person. Possibly best known for her short top down 2D RPG Mainichi, she has some fascinating insights into the industry to share with the world which is exactly what caught our attention this week.

Mattie wrote an incredibly strong article on the topic of the changing face of social justice and how anger on social media must change to reflect those changes. It’s a thoroughly moving insight into dealing with issues in public and one I highly recommend for anyone to read here.

So, here’s our suggestions. You can play Mattie’s free game Mainichi here, Read her article on Anger here and if you like what she creates consider dropping her something financial on her patreon account to keep the bills paid.

Laura’s gaming journey began in the 90′s when she was given a SNES by her older brother with Mario paint. From that day video games were all she thought about day or night, be it playing them, designing them, discussing them or writing about them. Why does she want to write about indie games? Because indie devs are awesome and she wants to be their new best friend by telling them how terrible their games are. That’s how it works right? Twitter: @LauraKBuzz Email: Laurak@indiehaven.com
