While rumours of a surprise release for No Man’s Sky during Paris Games Week didn’t come to pass, Hello Games’ space odyssey has been given a release window of June 2016.

The highly anticipated title was accompanied by a new trailer that gives a stronger sense of what the game will be. It even features some new shooting mechanics.

Players can expect to farm resources from a near infinite number of planets, document the exotic creatures that live there, and shoot it out in dog fights in the far reaches of the galaxy.

Posting on the Playstation.blog, Hello Games’ Sean Murray sounded confident of the release window:

“Since E3 our release date has now become clear. The game, our ambition and some key developments have fallen into place.”

Though clearly Murray and the team are aware of the huge expectations placed upon No Man’s Sky:

“We get one shot to make this game and we can’t mess it up. Our small team knows the world is watching, we’ve come from the bottom and we don’t take it lightly.”

While there’s still a while to wait, the developers are sure making it look like it’ll be worth it.
