Titan Souls, a game which seeks to marry elements of Shadow of the Colossus and Dark Souls, has just been given a new gameplay trailer.

Developed by three person team Acid Nerve, Titan Souls is a top-down action RPG where the player is tasked with killing a selection of massive bosses in an otherwise desolate world.

While the game’s spectacle and gargantuan adversaries are a sure nod to Team Ico’s seminal classic, it’s in the gameplay that Titan Souls looks to From Software’s Dark Souls for its inspiration.

Players begin their quest to kill these screen-filling enemies with just one point of health and a single arrow, a fact that immediately sets the expectation that Titan Souls will be anything other than forgiving or simple to conquer.

On the upside however, the arrow just happens to be a magic arrow that when shot, can be recalled to the player with the depression of a single button. Unfortunately, trying to recall the arrow roots our hero to the ground and as such, players are encouraged to be tactical and thoughtful with both their positioning and timing.

With a litany of different bosses, each with their own troublesome abilities and quirks, Titan Souls would seem to be a brutally exacting affair that places as much a premium on pixel-perfect movement and combat as it does on careful planning and tactics.

You can catch the new gameplay trailer for the game below.

Titan Souls is due early in 2015 for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PC platforms.
