After the not-so-great, but not bad reception of Bound By Flame, Spiders are back with The Technomancer, a post-apocalyptic RPG set in a cyberpunk version of Mars for PS4, Xbox One and PC.

Planned for a 2016 release, you play an aspiring Technomancer, a combat warrior with cybernetic magic, when you have your future threatened by the secrets of your past, as you do.

Over the weekend the first images of the game were revealed.

On the run from the Secret Police and confronted by the harsh realities of the Red Planet, you must undertake a quest that takes you through tribal communities, cities lost under the ice, and dystopian shanties sprawled across Mars’ dusty embrace. It almost sounds like a cross between Dune and Total Recall, which does sound pretty awesome.

Spiders are offering players a lot to get their teeth into with The Technomancer, announcing four different skill trees, focusing on three different fighting styles, and up to five different endings for many of the quests available. Dialogue is also set to play an important part as well with deeper character development – something which Bound By Flame was criticized for.

  • Sounds and looks like a direct sequel to (which had some nice artwork even though you couldn’t tell what kind of weather/climate the characters were dressing for (fighting under 5 layers of clothes next to someone in a bikini) and was bewilderingly unplayable considering the amount of work that went into the presentation.)

  • That is some nifty artwork
