The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is coming to New 3DS, Wii U, and Xbox One “soonish”, according to a series of tweets by developer Edmund McMillen. In typical McMillen style, the releases were previously announced on April Fool’s Day via Tumblr. However, the tweets today confirmed suspicions that it wasn’t a joke.

The Tumblr post ‘announces’ how the game will be modified or censored for the releases, however McMillen has since suggested that maybe they weren’t true. The Vine video also shows the game without fig leaves as the Tumblr posts says, but it’s still unclear as to what changes will be made.

The game features plenty of controversial, disgusting and religious imagery, so it’s definitely surprising to see the game coming to Nintendo consoles who have often opted for a more family-friendly image. Either way, the New 3DS seems like the perfect fit for Rebirth, and could be a whole new timesink for fans of the game.

Update: Tyrone Rodriguez, founder of Nicalis, who developed Rebirth with McMillen, has since confirmed via Twitter that these releases are “not censored in any way.” Cool!

Update #2: According to Polygon, the game will not be compatible with the 3DS, but infact only with the New 3DS. The article has been updated to reflect that.
