It’s become troublingly clear that another developer has contracted the dreaded walking plague, twisting their once interesting and novel ideas into yet another zombie survival game. Today’s victim of this dreadful malaise is Team 17 who have announced The Escapists: The Walking Dead.

In conjunction with Skybound entertainment, Team 17 announced The Escapist: The Walking Dead, which will have the players take on the role of Rick Grimes as he and his band of survivors fight for survival in various locales, including the infamous prison from the graphic novels.

The game is set for release later this summer is due for release on Xbox One and PC.

The Escapist: The Walking Dead isn’t the only tie in game to the Walking Dead franchise. Telltale has had massive success already with two episodic series and is planning to release a stand-alone expansion of Walking Dead Season Two, and Starbreeze has their forthcoming first person shooter Overkill’s The Walking Dead. It’s fair to say we’re not going to run short of zombiefied skulls to cave-in in the near future.

You can read Joe’s review of the original The Escapists here. It’s fair to say he wasn’t a fan.
