Sony has announced a set of downloadable content for its sack-based flagship platformer LittleBigPlanet 3 that celebrates the independent games on its consoles.

The first two updates that showcase Octodad: Dadliest Catch and Velocity 2X are available today, with Thomas Was Alone and Don’t Starve packs set to materialize on May 19 and 26 respectively. The cutesy costumes will be available on the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 versions of the game.

This is the latest move in a long line of indie enthusiasm from Sony, whose platforms have become a haven for smaller games as of late. There’s just something awfully special about the scene’s most notable titles getting the chance to appear alongside Sackboy and friends in a mainstream title. It sets my heart aflutter to imagine a future in which big-ticket games can live symbiotically alongside independent fare, helping one another to flourish with sales and creativity.
