A countdown has appeared on the official Baldur’s Gate site hinting at an impending reveal for a new game. Beamdog confirmed earlier this year that the game would not be a sequel and would take place between the enhanced editions of the first and second game. Under the development name Adventure Y, The studio wrote on Bethblog:

“This year, the eagerly anticipated Adventure Y will finally navigate the dark underground caverns of development and venture out into the Sword Coast,” the studio added. “We’ve mentioned before that Adventure Y will be an addition to the Baldur’s Gate line using the Infinity engine, bridging the gap between Baldur’s Gate: Enhanced Edition and Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition.”

Beamdog previously stated the official announcement wouldn’t pop up until late spring, but the reveal of a countdown hints the game could be arriving in the next week.

“We’d be lying if we said we never think about doing a Baldur’s Gate III game, so we won’t say that…But we will say there’s nothing in the works yet regarding BGIII or a 5th edition game.” While it’s clear the site will not be counting down to Baldur’s Gate 3, it’s an exciting prospect to get our hands on a new adventure in the Baldur’s Gate universe.
