Usually, we don’t publish news here on Indie Haven. But today, we’d like to share an announcement with you that that we’re pretty sure you’re going to like: registration for the Google Play Indie Games Festival is officially open.

This year on Saturday, September 24, my hometown will play host to one of the largest exhibitions of indie games to date. Thirty games will compete to win the hearts of exhibition goers and the attention of Google execs at a festival to celebrate the most innovative indie experiences available on the Android market. You can see the full list of games by clicking here.

Better yet: you can play them. Fifteen of the thirty games selected for the festival — many of which are brand new, or not yet released — have been rendered open in a limited beta. You can click here on your mobile device to be taken to a page with links to the games. Fans can vote for their favorites alongside the judges panel, which includes such industry vets as Kongregate’s Emily Greer, Nix Hydra’s Lina Chen, and Jordan Maron aka “CaptainSparklez.”

And don’t sweat the cost. This open beta is free.

So have at it, and have fun. If you’re interested, you can register for the event here — I’ll be in attendance, and bringing you more information about the event as it comes. I hope to see you there.

Stay classy, Haveners.
