Great news for Wii U owners, it seems Super Meat Boy is going to be coming to the Wii U in very near future.

According a post on Twitter by the games developer, Tommy Refenes, Super Meat Boy will be coming to the Wii U in just a couple of months.

In Super Meat Boy players control a small red meat cube that has to save his girlfriend Bandage Girl from the evil Dr. Fetus. Players rescue Super Meat Boys love interest by traversing 300 difficult platforming levels that contain everything from giant buzzsaws, crumbling blocks and other dangerous obstacles.

The port to the Wii U is apparently part of a collaboration with publishing studio BlitWorks, a company that’s experienced in porting games to a number of different platforms.

Although no exact date has been given for when we can expect the game to appear on the Wii U, fans are already eagerly awaiting the arrival of Super Meat Boy. There’s also been no word on whether the touch pad will bring added functionality to the game or if there will be Amiibo support as well, although you can bet a Super Meat Boy Amiibo would be incredibly popular with the fanbase.

Not that I’m not happy for him, but do people still care enough to buy a game that’s six years old?

Yes. This game is fantastic and if only more developers put in the time and effort to perfect the controls like these guys did. Don’t be one of those people who turn their backs on great games just because they are a few years old.

  • I could see posting screenshots to Miiverse showing all of your on-screen deaths being pretty popular here.

Right?, especially in some of the later levels where it can feel like you’re bashing your head off a wall for hours. Plus knowing how weird the Miiverse can get it’s going to be interesting to see what the community comes up with.
