Popular 2D world-builder Terraria will release on PlayStation 4 next week, a post on the Official PlayStation Blog confirmed earlier today.

Aside from running in full HD, the PS4 version of Terraria will also boast a wealth of new content that should appeal to both newcomers and practiced hands alike.

Some of this new content includes, but is not limited to, over 1,000 new items, eight new NPCS, 100 new enemies, four challenging new bosses and 15 new pets for players to tame.

Taking on board feedback that was leveled at last year’s PS3 version of the game, the PS4 version of Terraria will not only support pinch and zoom gestures with the DualShock 4’s touch pad, but also a World Map companion app for mobile and tablet devices too.

The app is expected to show where you are in real-time within the game world in addition to providing insight regarding the environment around the player.

To sweeten the deal further, Terraria on PS4 will not only support Cross-Play with folks who own the PS3 and PS Vita versions of the game, but for a limited time only, anyone who buys Terraria on PS4 will get the PS Vita version free of charge as well.

It’s important to note also that while Cross-Play is supported, Cross-Buy will not be outside of the limited time PS Vita offer at launch.
